Eventually our personal and culturally-constructed systems of reality fail. We are left with a trembling glance into the alternative---a horizonless and timeless unknown territory. How we respond when confronted with this existential dilemma has been the subject of artists for millennia.
Resonance with what past artists have done has inspired me to incorporate appropriated imagery from other times and other cultures into my own photographic practice. Like those who have gone before, making art helps me understand the flaws in my own constructed realities---even if I don’t come up with a better alternative.
